Dr. Micheál Scanlon is a lecturer in the Department of Chemical Sciences at UL.
“My group’s research involves developing self-assembly and electrochemical methodologies to functionalise immiscible liquid-liquid interfaces with nanomaterials, ranging from photoactive dyes to conducting polymers, to metallic nanoparticle films. By functionalising these “soft” interfaces, we can employ them in applications ranging from solar energy conversion to sensors, to electrocatalysis.”
