Micheal O’Loughlin Boston Scientific VP – R&D

Background

Micheal is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from UCG (now NUIG). He has worked in the medical device industry for over 23 years in various functions. Micheal started in R&D with CR Bard (Now Medtronic) in the Cardiovascular division in Galway. He has worked in Australia with ResMed as an Industrial Engineer.

Micheal has been with Boston Scientific since 2002 working in a variety of locations; starting in Cork as a Quality Engineer working in Design Assurance, then Process Development as the local manager in Cork. While in Cork, Micheal completed the Executive MBA program at UCC.  In 2006 Micheal and his family moved to the US to lead Process Development for a new division as the Director. Since then, Micheal has taken roles in Project Management and an assignment to Costa Rica for 3 years to run Engineering at 2 new and large manufacturing plants. Returning to the US in 2011, Micheal’s Process Development role expanded to include global responsibilities including product development sites across the US and India. For the last couple of years Micheal has been the VP of R&D for the Urology and Pelvic Health Division, this is a global R&D role focused on bringing innovations in the UroPH space to patients and customers around the world. Micheal lives in Hopkinton, a suburb outside Boston with his wife Jane, daughter Rose and son Peter.
