Ehud Gazit is a Professor and Endowed Chair with appointments at Faculties of Life Sciences and Engineering of Tel Aviv University (TAU). He is the founding director of the BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Development and former VP for R&D of TAU. Gazit completed his B.Sc. (summa cum laude) at TAU and his Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He has been a faculty member of TAU since 2000, after completing his postdoctoral studies at MIT where he also had held a visiting appointment (2002–2011). He also had visiting appointments at Cambridge University (2016), Fudan University (2018-2019), and Umeå University (2019-2021). He received numerous awards including Hestrin Award, Rappaport Prize, and Landau Prize. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization and a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. In 2015, he was knighted by the Italian Republic for his service to science and society.
